Built around family trust.

Development-stage policy. This page describes the current local-first product direction and should be reviewed before public App Store release if data practices change.

Our approach

Family Story Vault is designed to help families preserve personal stories, audio, family relationships, and related memories. We believe deeply personal family content should be handled with care and clarity.

Local-first storage

The current development version is designed to store vault content locally on the user's device. Family Story Vault does not require a public social profile or public posting of family memories.

Backups and exports

Users may create backups or exports of their vault content. Those files can contain personal family information. Users are responsible for choosing where they save or share exported files.

Audio and media

Audio recordings and media added to a vault are used to provide the preservation features requested by the user. The current product direction does not include voice cloning or AI impersonation of deceased relatives.

Analytics, accounts, and cloud services

The app is still in development. If future versions introduce accounts, cloud synchronization, analytics, crash reporting, or other network services, this policy will be updated to explain what is collected, why, and what choices users have.

Children

Family vaults may contain memories about children entered by an adult family member. The service is not currently presented as a standalone service intended for children to create accounts independently.
